We, at the PYFC are excited to see you here and engage in our various programs and services. PYFC is a positive space that has succeeded in creating a sense of belonging and community for youth and their families. We are looking forward to meeting you and we welcome you to become a part of our PYFC Family!
Through a series of workshops and hands-on studio sessions, youth learn music production and recording techniques using state of the art digital equipment. Hip Hop Workshops are Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 3-7pm
The Music Program is one of our pioneer programs, and now an anchor to the Digital Dream Pathways. We are innovators in youth services due to the fact that we opened the first public recording studio in the City of Santa Monica’s history. Inspired by the success of our music program, other youth services in Santa Monica, started to incorporate recording studios in their service models.
One of the main components that make the PYFC unique is the creation of our annual compilation album; all created by youth from beat to lyric. All the concepts and topics that we cover are what we like to call “socially conscious music”. It allows the youth to have a platform to tackle social issues, current events, and personal strife. The music program also consists of daily classes and hands on training that cover the basics of recording arts, music production and engineering. We believe through the recording arts we are creating the future leaders and musicians of tomorrow.
The PYFC Film & Visual Media Program, which trains youth in the basics of camera operations, film directing/editing and graphic design. In this program, students have the option of producing their very own short film, narrative, documentary and/or music video for free. Whether it’s a T.V. show, video blog, webisode or news broadcast, the local community is also welcome to bring their Vision to Television through PYFC’s Youth Behind The Vision Network (YBVN).
The PYFC provides youth the opportunity to acquire leadership skills by organizing informative community workshops, leadership retreats and community improvement projects bi-weekly on Thursdays from 3:30-6:30pm.
